Back from Canada!
If you follow me on Twitter or like my Facebook page, you probably saw that I was in Canada for a couple days. I had an amazing time and packed a lot into two days! I did three interviews and spent the night in a lovely Bed & Breakfast we’ve scene on screen. I can’t wait to share it with you. I discovered some new locations and took some photos for upcoming posts. I even had an unexpected encounter with a homeowner, which is always such a big deal to me since I don’t normally meet them. And it means I can share all of it with you! I had tea with a friend, dinner with my cousins, and lunch with another friend. She loves Fort Langley too, so we walked around town after lunch. I had a fun time and got a lot accomplished. This is one of the few times I’ve crossed the border and NOT scene a circus, which was rather surprising.
So, I had another post all ready to go but decided since we began the month with three new Hailey Dean movies, it was only fitting I should end it with a Hailey Dean location. My friend Ruth from My Devotional Thoughts is a big Hailey Dean fan and June is also her birthday month. Ruth conducts interviews with some of the hottest Hallmark lead and supporting actors, writers, directors, and lifestyle enthusiasts (and others), all of which can be read on her website. Be sure to check it out! She has been a big supporter and promoter of I’ve Scene It On Hallmark since I launched this website last year and I cannot tell you how much that means to me. Thank you so much Ruth…this one’s for you!
Earlier this month, Hailey Dean fans were given three all new mysteries to solve including 2 + 2 = Murder, A Marriage made for Murder, and A Will to Kill. The movies are based on the character of Hailey Dean, from books written by Nancy Grace. Most of us have followed Kellie Martin’s career and it didn’t escape our attention that her Life Goes On co-star, the one and only Chad Lowe, would be sharing the screen with her once again after nearly 25 years! As a fan of Kellie Martin, Chad Lowe, Hailey Dean, AND Life Goes On, I could not wait to watch these new mysteries and see how Chad’s character would factor into Hailey’s life. From Hallmark:
Hailey Dean: 2 + 2 = Murder: “Hailey attends her niece’s school recital only to learn that the beloved music teacher has vanished. Hailey soon discovers several startling secrets amongst the staff, as well as a link between the missing young teacher and the school’s reconstruction funds”.
Hailey Dean: A Marriage for Murder: “Hailey’s professional code of ethics prevents her from going to the police about a client’s confession, so she must find another way to bring the killer to justice”.
Hailey Dean: A Will to Kill: “Emotionally ready to confront her fiancé’s 15-year-old murder, Hailey finds herself caught up in the case of a missing college coed. The deeper Hailey digs into the young woman’s disappearance the more she is convinced the two events are related”.
I enjoyed all three new films, especially the third, because we learned who killed Hailey’s fiancé and why. As far as locations go, the first movie spent a lot of time shooting in Maple Ridge while the second film used more of Langley. I will feature some of those locations in a future post. In the final movie, there was one location that caught my attention, and that would be the lake house. It was a very important locale in A Will to Kill.
In the film, the lake house is owned by Clyde (played by Chad Lowe), the best friend of Hailey’s deceased fiancé, Will. This location was a significant part of the story line as several events were said to have taken place there. We learned that the lake house is where Will proposed to Hailey and where Will’s ashes were scattered after his death. We didn’t get to see all of this happen, but some of this history was shown in flashbacks, like the last time the college gang got together before Will was murdered.
The lake house turned out to be very easy to find, and I was able to see it earlier this week while in B.C. Coincidentally, I had already been searching for another lake house when this Hailey Dean movie premiered. I was able to locate the other house as well and will have a full write up in a future post. I am becoming more and more familiar with Langley and recently discovered that in addition to the lake, which I’ve just learned about, there is also an area of houseboats there as well, one of which we’ve scene before. I love unearthing these new places, which ultimately lead to new locations, which brings new stories.
The lake house can be found at Rees Lake in Langley. It looks exactly as it did on screen. I got real lucky and was able to take a couple photos of the backside of this property. I had no idea how large the place was until I saw it from this vantage point.
As my regular readers know, I write a lot about film locations in Fort Langley. Not surprisingly, that is exactly where I tracked down the house that belongs to Hailey Dean in the series. And yes, that is a pumpkin on the front porch. I took these photos on a gorgeous sunny day last fall.
It’s a lovely two-story home and is around the corner from other Hallmark homes I’ve written about like the Summer of Dreams home, Molly’s house from The Perfect Bride, and Bailey’s house from My Boyfriends Dogs. As I have mentioned before, there is no Zillow in Canada, so I do not know the specs on either of the homes featured today.

What I’m Watching This Weekend:
This weekend, I will be watching the all new Hallmark movie Yes, I Do, which premieres on Saturday night. And Christmas is in the air on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel, where your favorite holiday movies are playing around the clock! My DVR is already recording. Check local listings for time.
Thank you so much for your continued support and I will be back next week with an all new Hallmark location.

How beautiful, Kerry! You always have an incredible eye for catching all of these beautiful locations! That lake house from “Hailey Dean” looked truly incredible on screen, and the pictures you captured are just as breathtaking! What a lovely place… plus, I just love that you added in the extra info on other Hallmark filming locations that are nearby! They’re neighbors!
Your trip sounded so wonderful, I’m so happy for you- that it was so successful!
Safe travels… Blessings, Net
Kerry
Thanks so much Net! This area is incredible, truly hidden in plain sight. I say that because I have discussed this area with 2 different native Canadians that have lived their entire lives in the country and they didn’t know about this place. True story! One of them lives 7 minutes away. I was fortunate to visit on a sunny day, perfect for a lake visit. I have some AMAZING locations coming up over the next several months. I can’t wait to share them all!!! 🙂

Kerry, I love reading about all the locations you have been and the awesome pictures of the various houses! Keep them coming!
Thanks again!
Kerry
Hi Jacqueline, thank you so much! It is always nice to hear feedback!!! I’ve got lots more “Hallmark Houses” coming up and starting next week, they will be Christmas Hallmark Houses!!! Gotta love Christmas in July! 🙂
Sally Silverscreen
Great post, Kerry! I enjoyed Hailey Dean Mystery Month as well, as I’ve reviewed all three movies on my blog! The lake house is a great location and I hope it is featured in more Hallmark movies! I know you have briefly talked about the Rags to Riches store from the Garage Sale Mystery series, but have you considered making a series of posts for the locations of Hallmark Movies & Mysteries films?
Kerry
Hi Sally! There will be a complete story on the “Rags to Riches” store later this summer. I am always on the prowl for locations from Hallmark & HMM movies and am constantly re-watching and scanning through movies. Right now, I’m thinking ahead to the holidays so I’m focusing a lot of my time on the “Christmas in July” movies. I got lucky last night and recognized several locations form the movies I scanned through. I will continue to feature locations by movie and try to tie my posts in with whats airing, if possible. For instance, next week, there will be an SSD location to coincide with the all new SSD movie. I am currently looking for 2 locations that I am having a lot of trouble finding, which is incredibly frustrating. The longer it goes on, the harder it is for me…..LOL. On the plus side, I was recently able to cross 4 locations off my “still looking for” list!!!!! 🙂
