Hello and happy new year! I’m not sure how it is possible that we are already in the LAST WEEK of February already but my calendar says we are so it must be true. Wow. Seriously…WOWSERS!!! Before we dive into The Kent Family Farm, lets have a little catch-up.
I hope you all enjoyed the Christmas holidays as much as I did. As you know, we spent a quiet Christmas at our Arizona house and it was a fabulous 11days! We took the golf cart out for a spin after dark to look at Christmas lights in the neighborhood and we watched a lot of holiday movies. We spent time with friends & neighbors. We had sunshine with cool overnight temps, and we were able to explore some new areas around Phoenix, including an olive farm and checking out some film locations in a town not too far from our place. I plan to feature Wickenburg, Arizona in a future post. We are heading back to AZ for a week in May and I hope to do a story after that.
You may recall my 12 Days of Christmas giveaway that I did in November. I ended up mailing over 30 packages out to Canada, Australia, France, the UK, and the USA. I apologize for the delays that happened as a direct result of the US Postal Service. I mailed the packages out in plenty of time and yet many items took WEEKS to travel across the US, including a book that took 5 weeks to reach its destination on the East Coast. One item was returned to me and the Post Office could not tell me why….they didn’t know. I am appalled with the service, it was very upsetting and took away from the spirit in which it was meant. Again, my sincere apologies to everyone that was affected by this. Next Christmas, this will look very different as I will NOT be using the USPS.
The estate I’ve been working on the past year is closer to being finished up. These days, all my time is taken up with my job. I work in the office of an accounting firm and we are entering “tax season”. (yeah, it’s a thing!) I worked for awhile today (Sunday) and my week days are getting longer too. Time is tight for sure, but it will all be over at the end of April. I love the busyness of tax season but the long days do wear on me after awhile. We are less than 2 months until the main April 15 deadline so I’m just trying to stay focused.
As I mentioned in my last post, the program I use to edit my photos changed and as you can imagine, I had quite a time with the change. I’d like to give a shout out to the two people that got my photos up & running; my daughter KT and my Hallmark friend, Lisa….AKA Girl Gone Hallmark. I would NOT be posting right now without the help of these two peeps. THANK YOU!!!!!! Ok now….. lets talk locations!!!!
Today’s location has generated many emails to me, more so than any other property in the filming world! Well…..at least my filming world. It seems everyone wants a story on this one and I get why. We’ve scene it in several Hallmark movies, as well as a major motion picture, but it all began with a recurring role on a popular TV series. I am very familiar with this location, having tracked it down waaaay back in the mid-2000’s at the request of my (now adult) children. I’m talking about none other than the Kent Family Farm!
Owned by the Anderlini family and located just blocks from the border in a quiet area of Aldergrove, this scenic farmland became famous back in 2001 when it was a featured location on the hit TV series, Smallville. The show is about Clark Kent, AKA Superman, when he was growing up in Smallville, Kansas. On the show, Clark’s family lives at the farm, hence it has become known in the film location world as the Kent Family Farm. My girls were both huge fans of Smallville and spent their childhood visiting film locations, so it wasn’t much of a stretch when they wanted to visit this one. Over the years, I have been by the farm countless times, often bringing out of town guests by for a looksee. Smallville lasted a whopping 10 seasons and fans still want a peek at Clark’s childhood home.
Never seen Smallville? Me either! But not to worry, it has been captured on film in several Hallmark movies, including Garage Sale Mysteries, For Better or For Worse, When Sparks Fly, and A Feeling of Home.
But in the Hallmark world, it is best known for its starring role in, A Country Wedding, AND the reason I have received so many emails about it over the past few years! Seems viewers are really taken with this one. Having visited many times, I can tell you the place is as lovely in person as it appears on TV. And as you can see, it looks exactly as it does on screen.
While I have not scene Riverdale or Sonic the Hedgehog, I hear the farm was used in both, as well as the feature film, The Miracle Season, which I VERY MUCH enjoyed and highly recommend.
As you know, I typically do not post addresses of the homes I feature on the blog, but this one is already all over the internet, so I am making an exception. The Kent Family Farm is located at 843 – 248th Street in Langley. As always, use common sense and respect when visiting any film location.
While researching screenshots for this post, I came across a very familiar farmhouse that had a recurring role as Lana’s house in Smallville. Yup, it’s the All Of My Heart farmhouse!!! It also showed up in Hallmarks A Feeling Of Home. I wrote a very popular piece on it here.

As always, I thank you for your continued support. I will be back soon with another Hallmark location. Until next time…..keep calm and Hallmark on!
