Did ya catch it last weekend??? The latest movie in the Hallmark sequels, The Perfect Bride: Wedding Bells, premiered last Saturday night. I watched it live and couldn’t wait to discover some new film locations as well as see some from the original. And it didn’t disappoint! (yep, they used the same house, which I wrote about here!)
I enjoyed the movie and the storyline, and I loved seeing so many characters from the first film return for this one. From Hallmark:
“Former marriage counselor turned fitness instructor Molly White (Pascale Hutton) has built a popular brand of workout classes, while her successful wedding photographer boyfriend Nick (Kavan Smith) is branching out into art photography. Molly and Nick are very much in love and about to take the plunge by getting married, but life’s complexities combined with wedding planning are making their trip to the altar a challenge. When thoughts of postponement crop up, can this perfectly matched bride and groom work together to make their wedding happen”?
The movie opens at a church with a wedding about to begin. Milner Chapel caught my eye immediately because I have driven past it so many times over the last year and it is picture perfect for filming. I knew that one day it would appear on my screen and sure enough, it did!
In The Perfect Bride: Wedding Bells, the chapel was where we saw Molly get left at the alter by her former finance, Steve. As you can see from the screenshot below, interiors were used in filming.
Milner Chapel is located in the historic Milner area, within the Township of Langley. It is one of the oldest standing buildings in Langley. The church has quite a history. It was founded in 1885 and the building was finished and dedicated in May of 1886 as a Methodist Church. In June of 1925, it became known as the Milner United Church, a result of the union between the Presbyterian and Methodist churches. In the fall of 1990, the church discontinued services due to the dwindling congregation. Eventually, the Milner Community Association obtained the church, their goal being to maintain it as a non-profit, non-denominational chapel for the community. On March 14, 2006, the chapel was moved a block away to its current location, where it is a venue for weddings, funerals, meetings, and from time to time, a little filming.
I know of several little white chapels in Langley and they have all been used for filming. As I said earlier, I have driven past Milner Chapel many times over the last year and always wondered why it hadn’t graced my screen. Earlier this week, I was speaking with a B & B owner in Canada about a future story, and he mentioned his B & B had been in Hallmark’s Come Dance at my Wedding. So that night, I scanned through the film, which is currently airing on Hallmark Now. (by the way, this service is a steal at 5.99 a month!) And I couldn’t believe my eyes…..there it was again, the Milner Chapel, for the second time this week!!!
In Come Dance at my Wedding, Milner Chapel was the wedding site for Cyd and Zach.
I was not able to connect with the event coordinator, which is why I didn’t take any interior photos. Since I do not live in Canada and there isn’t an office on site, it would need to be scheduled in advance. Unfortunately, it couldn’t be done in time for me to publish this week. I’d still love to see the inside of the chapel at some point and hope to work that out in the future.
Milner Chapel is located at 6716 216 Street in Langley, B.C. The church can hold up to 90 guests and there is a hall and kitchen available as well. If you visit, be sure to tell them you’ve scene it on Hallmark!
I have also located the lovely proposal site/wedding venue from The Perfect Bride: Wedding Bells, and plan to feature it in a future story. If you haven’t subscribed to my blog, now would be a good time. After all, you don’t want to miss a single location!

This is such a beautiful white country church, Kerry! I always love to see wooden pews, and the altar with the cross in the background is amazing… the perfect place for any bride & groom to say I do! Truly, it’s so lovely and quaint inside & out- and leave it to you to discover it in another movie, too! I have been in the June Wedding feel myself; therefore, I just re-watched my DVD copy of “Come Dance at My Wedding” -this week! It’s still such a sweet Hallmark movie! I’m so glad you discovered the Chapel in it! What a fun moment that must’ve been! I’ll be sure to look for it – next time I watch!
Your photography of the church is so beautiful! My favorite is the outside view with the white fence and gorgeous flowers. It’s all absolutely stunning! Breathtaking!
Thank you for sharing! I, too, love that they used Molly’s house again and all the same actors & actresses, too… in The Perfect Bride sequel. It was all perfect!
Blessing, Net
Kerry
Thanks Net…..as soon as I arrived to take photos, it began to drizzle. I was worried the photos would not turn out well but I was pleasantly surprised when I sat down to view them. I love the flowers against the white fence…..there is just something about it.
So you also just watched Come Dance at my Wedding THIS week? Weird, huh! Well I will be featuring a lovely B & B we have “scene” MANY times over the years, including in Come Dance at my Wedding. While watching, I recognized the “town” and will be writing about my visit there last December in a future post. Yes, we’ve “scene” it before!
I realize I watch movies differently than most people…..and I love discovering new locations. I think it is equally fun seeing places again and again on screen. Take Porters. I had NO IDEA it was also dressed as a toy shop for ‘Christmas List’ until last holiday season when I saw it on my screen. That was such a cool discovery, even though I’d “scene” it many times in movies. Set dec did an outstanding job.
So glad you enjoyed seeing this historic location. I too love these old churches with their wooden pews. This one is simple yet lovely. As I mentioned, Langley has several little white churches and they have all been used in filming. I will be featuring another one in the future. As alaays, thanks for your support Net!!! 🙂
Deanna
Looks like I need to get back up to Langley soon and visit all the locations I missed on Sunday! Thanks for all the info you dig up!
Kerry
You’re welcome Deanna! Hope to meet you soon. 🙂

Kerry I loved this & what you wrote about watching films differently than most people holds true for me too as I’m so busy watching out for my friends to appear in movies & even the tiniest roles get Me all excited. I Look Forward To you featuring the proposal spot. I do try to notice the locations since you’ve come along but I admit I rely on you still to provide this invaluable help to me. Thank you so much for your dedication
Kerry
I know you totally get it! We just watch differently than others….LOL! I was VERY excited to locate the proposal spot/wedding venue. I had spent very little time looking, then when the movie was on, I had a thought and boom, 30 minutes in and I had already located it! (I love it when that happens!!!) Thanks so much for your constant support Ruth. As a new kid on the block in the world of blogging, I am grateful for support from seasoned folks like yourself. 🙂

This is a good post, Kerry! I did see The Perfect Bride: Wedding Bells and I also reviewed it on my blog. Personally, I think the first movie is better than the sequel. Was Milner Chapel the same church in Marry Me at Christmas? While I was watching The Perfect Bride: Wedding Bells, I felt like I had “scene” that church last Christmas season.
Kerry
Hi Sally! Nice to see you again. I liked the first movie better too but I enjoyed this sequel. So many times, the sequels are made and we are left wondering why they even bothered. In this case, you’ve got the lead actors who work together normally and it really shows on screen. They were dynamite together!
I just scanned through Marry Me at Christmas and as I suspected, it was not Milner. Part of that movie was shot in Langley but most of it shot in Revelstoke, a place I would thoroughly enjoy visiting someday!!! Talk about small town charm! It shows well on screen and we’ve “scene” it before, in Frozen in Love.
Thanks for your comment. I checked out your blog and have bookmarked it. Is there a place to subscribe? Let me know. Thanks!!! 🙂

Yes, Kerry, I did add a Follow button on my blog! Since I’m a newer blogger, it took me a little while to figure out how to add the button to my homepage. Please let me know if the Follow button works.
Kerry
Thanks Sally…..I am now following. 🙂
Joanna
I got married at Milner Chapel in 2011. It’s such a special place! I’ve been trying to discover all of the movies it’s been in.
Kerry
Joanna, that is so cool!!! A few months ago, it popped up again in Hallmark’s, Wedding Every Weekend, as the site of the 4th wedding and the wedding at the end of the movie. Thanks for your comment! 🙂
