I am a longtime fan of Debbie Macomber. For those of you who don’t know Debbie’s work, she is the author of a long line of bestselling books, including the popular Cedar Cove series. I’ve been to a few of her book signings over the years, including one at her tea house, The Grey House Café, in Port Orchard, WA. What can I say, she is an amazing storyteller and an incredibly gracious author. She is so hands-on with her fans, smiling for photos with them and signing her autograph over and over, and always making you feel special. Debbie’s personality is infectious, and you can’t help but relax and laugh when you are in her presence. If you are a fan of her books, my advice to you is if you ever have the opportunity to see her on a book tour, do it! And if you’re like me and live in Washington State, consider a trip to Port Orchard when Debbie is holding one of her breakfast book signings. Trust me, it’s totally worth it! She entertains the room with the greatest stories, and I still haven’t forgotten the scones I had back in 2011 – seriously good and made fresh at the tea house.
Like many, I was a fan of the Hallmark TV series Cedar Cove. I felt the shock and disappointment with everyone else when it was cancelled without any closure. I felt this way when Lifetime cancelled Army Wives, too! I’ve never understood why Cedar Cove was cancelled with no closure, not even a 2 hour finale to say goodbye to the characters we loved. While the show may have gone off the air, I am still quite smitten with those Cedar Cove locations I used to see every week. I need to do some serious Cedar Cove Hallmarking but today, I want to share with you a location I’ve run across a couple times in recent months. And that would be Jacks house from the Cedar Cove series.
On a quiet street in the picturesque town of Fort Langley sits this lovely home. It is gorgeous in person! I love the look so much, we are planning to paint our home this same color next summer. The crisp, white trim and the cedar shake accents blend perfectly with the olive-green paint. As you can see in the photos, the home is surrounded by some foliage in the front yard but you still get a great view of it from the sidewalk. The homeowners take great care of this property, so it should come as no surprise that it has popped up in a couple of Hallmark movies.
I first saw this house when Cedar Cove was on the air. At that time, newspaper editor Jack Griffith lived here.
Then, in a twist of Hallmark fate, actor Dylan Neal (who played the character of Jack) once again lived in this house when he filmed the 2016 holiday movie Looks Like Christmas, co-starring Anne Heche.
Most recently, I spied this home again while re-watching Hallmark’s A Novel Romance, starring Amy Acker and Dylan Bruce. In the movie, Amy’s character, Sophie, lives here.
The interior was used in filming, just as it was in Looks Like Christmas and Cedar Cove. Set dressers used the same sofa and bar stools in the Cedar Cove and Looks Like Christmas shoots, leading me to believe these actually belong to the homeowners.
I am a longtime fan of Fort Langley and have been coming here for over two decades. My cousin, Mary, lives close by and used to work here. I have always enjoyed walking around, taking in the antique stores and cafes, and enjoying the many festivals this charming town is known for. Fort Langley is no stranger to filming, and on any given day, you will likely find some sort of filming going on. Hallmarks Cedar Cove spent a lot of time in the fort – the office of The Chronical, Art Gallery, City Hall, and Moons Café are all here. The network has a very strong presence here, and many of the movies you’ve scene on Hallmark have filmed in Fort Langley.
Jack’s house is located in Fort Langley, B.C. For all of us Cedar Cove fans, I’ve already begun working on a future post featuring several highlight locations from the show.

Jack’s house from Cedar Cove is so cool, Kerry! I just love that you discovered that Dylan Neal also used it as his home in “Looks Like Christmas”! He must’ve really felt at home there! I’m going to be sure and look for it in all future projects Dylan Neal does!
Blessings, Net

Isn’t that awesome Net? And keep a lookout for it in other Hallmark movies. The house is SO well maintained, I will not be surprised to see it again!

I’m interested to know where Charlotte’s house is and the history there.
I am sad about the cancellation of Cedar Cove. It was a huge breath of fresh air for me. I would love to see it come back and finish the complete book collection. For those of us that love the series would have loved to see it play out till the end. I feel I’ve lost touch with my family.. I’m going to miss them & the town of Cedar Cove.. M ♥️
Kerry
Hi Melissa! Charlotte’s house that we saw in season 3 is also the house used in Wedding Bells, among others. It is hidden from the street but I have done a drive-by. I would LOVE to do a story on the place because it is stunning! And my understanding is that it has been used in many productions over the years, including major motion pictures. Thanks so much for your comment and your interest. I will be publishing a 3 part “Look back at Cedar Cove” in May. Stay tuned for that!!! As a fan of the series, I think you will enjoy it. I hated how the series ended and fans never found any closure. I realize they cant bring it back but perhaps a 2 part movie to tie things up? Or maybe even like SSD, doing 3 new movies every year. That would be great too. There are so many fans of the show that would welcome it. 🙂

Oh I love this! I’m taking a getaway trip to Deep Cove this weekend to escape from an extremely stressful year (and 4 little kiddos!) I’m thinking I may need to also plan a little detour on Saturday to Fort Langley to check some of these places out. I very much miss Cedar Cove! I never get time to watch TV anymore, but over the past 6 years of child rearing, it is the only show I insisted I watch each week. It was just such a warm, comfortable feeling – so cozy. They felt like family. I’m so sad it’s off the air 🙁
