Seasons Greetings to you! I know it has been a long while since I posted, and I promise I will be addressing that specifically in the very near future. But for now, I would just like to publish a few short Hallmark Christmas film locations for you to enjoy! I am WAY out of practice and Word Press has had a major update so everything looks very different to me…..probably because it is. It has been like starting all over again and you know I have a love hate relationship with tech. It has been quite comical to take this on today but I am determined. Ok, let’s do this!!
Today’s locations come to us from Hallmarks The Christmas Note. I really enjoyed this movie, which first aired a few years back, in 2015. I have re-watched it many times over the years and as I have become more and more familiar with towns and areas of British Columbia, I have been able to locate and visit nearly all of the locations we saw in the movie. From Hallmark:
“Having just moved back to her hometown with her young son but without her serviceman husband, Gretchen Daniels (Jamie-Lynn Sigler) finds her life in disarray as Christmas approaches. She discovers new purpose when she helps to deliver a message to her neighbor, Melissa (Leah Gibson), which makes her an ally in a quest to find the neighbor’s sibling she never knew she had. The women become bonded not only by the search, but by the understanding that being there for each other means they’re no longer alone. This friendship becomes the greatest Christmas gift of their lives.”
One of the featured locations is Betty’s Bakery, which we’ve scene before. Fans of the All of My Heart franchise will recognize Betty’s as the General Store. In real life, this is the Clayburn General Store, which I wrote about here. This historic building continues to show up in Hallmark movies, including The Christmas Shepard, Aurora Teagarden, It’s Christmas, Eve, and of course this one, The Christmas Note. In fact, most of this film was shot in Clayburn Village, which plays Wilsonville in the movie.
As I have said before, Hallmark tends to take advantage of a location and many times, they will film in the same area, if possible. This cuts down on the time and cost to move everything from one town to another. I have noticed from time to time they will film just a little in one area and the majority of filming will be done elsewhere. (Ah, the life of a Location Manager!) While searching for locations from a movie, if I recognize something, I will begin my search for other locations in that same town or area. This practice has served me well over the years and as a result, I have uncovered many locations I would have never found.
Another location you might recognize is the Clayburn B & B, which I wrote about here. We’ve scene it as Alice’s house in All of My Heart 2 & 3, and in Aurora Teagarden: The Julius House, where it also played a B & B. In The Christmas Note, the B & B stood in for Melissa’s mom apartment. The detailing around the doorway was a dead giveaway.
The side-by-side homes we saw in the movie, belonging to Gretchen and Melissa, are also located in the heart of Clayburn Village.
As you can see in my photos, the houses themselves look very much the same as they do on screen. However in real life, there is no mountain in the background. I’ll admit, that DID throw me off the trail….but not for long. Not entirely sure why they decided to CGI the backdrop in but is does look very rustic……and cold!!!
After finding these homes, the little bridge in front of one of the houses showed up in Aurora Teagarden: Three Bedrooms, One Corpse. Because the bridge is such a unique feature, I remembered it and was able to connect the two locations very easily. That, and the fact that Aurora shoots a lot in Clayburn.
Hallmark Home Tour: For those of you that live in Canada or near the border, I think it is worth mentioning an event that I find to be a very unique opportunity, especially for the Hallmark movie fan. The Mt Lehman Christmas Home Tour began this weekend and will continue again next weekend, December 21-22, 2019. For $20.00 each or $50.00 per family, you can tour six homes that have been used in Hallmark movies! Did you catch that? You get to go INSIDE these homes we’ve scene on Hallmark! Over 20 Hallmark movies have been filmed in this neighborhood and they are opening their doors to you, the fan. And the best part? 100% of the profits from tickets will be donated to International Justice Mission (IJM), which helps rescue people from human trafficking. Personally I think this is a brilliant idea and I am hoping to make it up next weekend. One of the homes on the tour is Herronsbridge, which we’ve scene in several movies, but is most known as the Whitcomb house from the Father Christmas franchise on Hallmark. I featured this lovely 10 acre estate here. I can tell you from my own experience that entrance to this house alone is worth going for! And you will still get to visit five others!!! Ticket information can be found here. For more information on IJM, click here. Many thanks to my good friend, Janelle, for tipping me off to this event. And thank you to the Mt Lehman tour for linking to my site. ***Disclosure: no photography will be allowed inside of the homes, per their website.
Wanna buy the movies? Please consider making your purchase through the links below. You always pay the same price and I earn a few cents commission, which directly helps to offset the cost of this website. Thank you!
My sincere THANKS for stopping by today and for your continued support over the last year. It means more to me than you will ever know. I will be back again very soon with another Hallmark location. And what the heck, a few giveaways too! ‘Tis the season!
