Before I get to October Kiss, I wanted to share with you a photo of my brunch this morning.
Back in August, I did something I haven’t done in a number of years. I picked a bounty of blackberries that grow wild in the PNW, where I live. Over a couple week period, I canned several batches of blackberry jam and a couple batches of seedless blackberry syrup. (I used to love giving jam and syrup for gifts at Christmas) I made up a batch of mini blackberry pies, which I froze for later, and put all leftover berries in the freezer for future use, so we can enjoy fresh blackberry cobbler during the winter months. Last week, I made a sourdough starter so this morning, I whipped up a batch of my husbands favorite; sourdough pancakes. Believe me when I tell you that there is nothing like sourdough pancakes with warm seedless blackberry syrup! Hubs is a happy guy right now!!! Its been WAY too long since we enjoyed this simple pleasure and I am so happy I made the time to pick berries and do some canning last August. And no, I am not going into food blogging, just sharing a photo with you. Bon appetite! Ok, onto locations………
I REALLY wanted to sneak in one more Harvest-themed film location before going “all Christmas” on you, and October Kiss fit the bill perfectly! I recently re-watched this one and within an hour had tracked down several of the locations we saw in the movie. The following week, I made the drive up to Canada to take these photographs so I could do a post. I don’t know about you but I thought this was a really cute movie. It really showcases just how animated actress Ashley Williams is in this role as the super fun nanny, Poppy Summerall. From Hallmark:
“Poppy Summerall is hired near Halloween as a temporary nanny by Ryan Lawson, a widowed, work-obsessed executive. Through a series of adventures, the eternally optimistic Poppy sets out to teach Ryan and his two young children what’s important in life – unconditional love, family and the joy of everyday occurrences”.
The Lawson Home:
The first location I want to share is that of the Lawson home. This is where Ryan and his children, Zoe & Zach, live.
In real-life, the house is located in a quiet neighborhood in Langley. The house is very recognizable from the movie and the day I showed up to snap photos, there were no Halloween decorations on the house, just like at the beginning of this movie! I’m not gonna lie, I was a bit disappointed by this…I really would have loved to have scene it decked out with décor. Unfortunately, there was a rather large camper parked in the driveway the day I stopped by, but other than that, the house looks the same as what we saw on screen. I love the cedar shakes and the use of stone.
Megan’s Home:
Not too far away I found the home of Poppy’s sister, Megan. Fun fact: I’d actually driven past it before as it is located just around the corner from Aurora Teagarden’s new house, which I’ve yet to post about. (you know, the one where Niall Matter lives next door) I LOVED seeing a bit of Harvest décor when I arrived to take photos!!! This beautiful newer home looks just as we saw it on screen. I just love those barn-door style garage doors and hardware. The casing above the garage and window is such great detail and really makes a statement. See how it ties in with those porch columns? Just lovely!!!
Zoe & Zach’s School:
Just a short drive away from both of the houses is where I located the school that Zoe & Zach attended. This is the Gordon Greenwood Elementary school in Langley. I remember the very first time I watched October Kiss, the school’s location was on my radar because it was SO cute!!! I mean, just look at those darling pencil poles on the front of the school. #Totallyadorbs
The Park:
Just down the street from the school is McClughan Park, which is the park where Poppy held her yoga classes. We saw this location a few times throughout the movie.

As I’m sure you are already aware, Hallmark Christmas movies have already begun airing! Last I heard, there are 37 brand movies to premiere this year, between the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel. And that makes for a lot of movie watchin’! If you find that to be too overwhelming, I suggest setting your DVR to record the new movies and you can watch them at your leisure. I know that helped me last year, as I was working full-time and trying to learn how to use Word Press, edit photos, research, and write for my blog. To be honest, I was still watching the new movies into January. Of course, the titles I was most excited about, I watched immediately. This year, there are several on my radar for various reasons.
For the latest and most up-to-date viewing guide for Hallmark, Lifetime, UP, and INSP, please check here at It’s A Wonderful Movie. My fellow blogging friend, Net, keeps tabs on ALL of the movies you’ll want to see. Trust me, I’ve been using her Christmas TV Movie Guide myself for the last few years. Also worth noting: this schedule can change at ANY time. Net keeps track of network changes to the schedule and posts the updates, so you don’t have to worry!
Next Week: Marrying Father Christmas
As always, I thank you so much for your continued support of this website! I will be back next week with an ALL NEW Hallmark Christmas location from Marrying Father Christmas!

I love the idealism of Hallmark movies. Great to have wholesome clean movies for a change these days. I just love October Kiss, it gives a friendly rather than dark side of Halloween we’re used to in the UK. I love a lot of the homes used in their movies too, You have a fun site, I look forward to more movie locations.
Kerry
Hi Carole! Thank you so much for your comment and for stopping by, all the way from the UK! My daughter graduated from the University of Leeds and we LOVE England!!! I agree with your sentiment as do so many others. It is wonderful to have wholesome movies for the whole family to watch TOGETHER. When our girls were little we had family movie night every week. It was always tough to find movies we could all enjoy. You hit on something else too…..there are many opinions about Halloween and Hallmark seems to do that just right too. They create the more family themed Halloween movies, which really remind me so much of my own childhood. I love that!!! October Kiss is a great look at Halloween!!! Thanks again for stopping by and I hope you enjoy learning more about these lovely locations. I’ve got a lot of Christmas ones coming up. 🙂

I was wondering if you can tell the street the Lawson house is on? I have been obsessed with this house since watching this movie when it aired (it is one of my fave) and this house has got to be my favorite in Hallmark movies followed by Grey House, house in The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, house in magic Stocking, and the entire town of Buford Falls in Matchmaker Santa.
Kerry
In order to protect homeowners’ privacy, I do not publish addresses of any of the homes I feature on my website. Thank you for understanding. 🙂
Sabrina
I thought that was probably the case. I just love that house. I am trying to convince my husband on a seattle/Vancouver vacation some day. I would love to see these places in the movies. Someone should do a Hallmark movies tour of these places. I do not know if it would be enough to sustain a full time job, but I would love it.
Kerry
Sabrina, if you and your hubs ever make it to Seattle or Vancouver, please let me know! I do offer I’ve Scene It Tours, which are tailored to what movies YOU like. Feel free to email me at kerry@ivesceneitonhallmark.com for more info. 🙂
Sabrina
That is great news. Thank you. I was talking to my husband yesterday, I told him there are a lot of locations in BC and Vancouver that one of his favorite shows, The X-Files were filmed, he started looking them up, and he seems thrilled for a trip out west and north. Now need to plan it 🙂
Kerry
Years ago, they used to have a company in Vancouver that offered X-Files tours. But I am certain you could plan your own, using info from the internet. I really hope you find your way there. It’s a beautiful city and there is lots to see & do. Happy planning!!! 🙂
Tonya
I don’t guess you happen to know the name of the purse that she carries in this film do you? I love Hallmark movies could sit and watch them all day.
Kerry
Hi Tonya, sorry, I do not know any details on the purse shown in the movie. I would suggest looking the movie up on IMDB and finding out who handled wardrobe on this movie. You could always reach out to that person. Good luck!!! 🙂
