What a CRAZY 24 hours! I had some technical difficulties and for the second time this month, my website went down. And we all know I don’t do tech. I have an awesome tech service for times like this and although the team was able to get me back up, I lost some of the work I had done on this weeks post. If you are reading this, then you know I got it all sorted out and am better late than never. Thanks for your patience! For all you Pinterest fans, there is a new feature on the blog this week. If you hover over any of the photos, you will see a pin-it button. I am hoping to spend some time organizing the I’ve Scene It On Hallmark Pinterest page and this new feature will give me the push I need.
It has been another amazing week. First off, I am beyond thrilled to let you know that I finally located the blue farmhouse from Harvest Moon and Love-Struck Café (FINALLY!!!) Yeah, it only took six months but…I FOUND IT! I began the great search after it caught my eye during a re-run of Harvest Moon last year. (such a great movie!) You can look forward to hearing all about it in a future post. And I cannot wait to drive by and see it with my own eyes, this weekend. I mention this because the truth is, I don’t always find what I’m looking for. So this was truly a victory for me and a good reminder to never give up!
Speaking of weekends, I had the privilege of not only meeting one of my readers, but she was actually my very first solo tour at the Jamestown Movie Set from WCTH!!! Janelle and her sister Lori came out last Sunday and I showed them all around Hope Valley. It was a memorable day for me and SO neat to connect.
I am guiding tours on most weekends. To book your tour, please contact Melanie here. As I’m sure you’ve heard by now, WCTH has officially been renewed for a sixth season! These tours can only be done when the show is not in production so if you want to experience Hope Valley, I would recommend booking sooner as opposed to later.
Alright, let’s talk locations! Ever notice how some Hallmark movies just sort of grab you? Well that is exactly what happened for me with Love on the Sidelines. Its just a really sweet story and I LOVED it! From the storyline to all of the actors, I totally enjoyed this one and never tire of dusting off the old DVR and pressing play for a re-watch.
From Hallmark:
Laurel Welk is an out of work aspiring fashion designer who lands a job as a personal assistant to superstar quarterback Danny Holland. Holland’s been sidelined with an injury and the last thing he wants is a female assistant, particularly one who knows nothing about football. But the two opposites strike a bargain and agree to work together on a trial basis. While Laurel struggles to master her job, knowing she’s in way over her head, Danny struggles to maintain his star image even though he’s concerned his injury might impact his career. Things get even more complicated when employer and employee start to notice there’s more to the other than meets the eye… and what they find is love on the sidelines.
Like Laurel, I know nothing about football, so I could totally relate to this character. I loved her innocence regarding sports, along with her determination and dedication, which we saw throughout the movie. And isn’t actress Emily Kinney, who plays Laurel, just as cute as a button? Danny was such a jerk in the beginning but eventually he softened a bit and next thing I knew, even I was rooting for the jock! For the record, I would LOVE to see a sequel to this one!!!
Several months ago, while searching online for a film location, I accidentally came across this neighborhood of enormous upscale homes in an area of Langley that I had never seen before. Of course, I made a mental (and physical) note of my discovery and went on with my research. It was fate that brought me there though because a couple weeks later, while surfing the Hallmark Channel, Love on the Sidelines came on and I immediately recognized this neighborhood. Because I had written down its whereabouts, I was able to locate Danny’s place within minutes. And it wasn’t too long after that when I saw the same neighborhood on my big screen in Hallmark’s Surprised by Love. Again, I was able to find the home from that movie very quickly.
I have mentioned before that my husband does not really get my fascination with film locations, in the same way that I do not get his obsession with football. But I knew he would enjoy seeing this particular area of Langley as neither of us had ever been there before or knew of its existence. I couldn’t wait to see it all in person and it didn’t disappoint. Heck, even the hubs enjoyed ooh-ing and aah-ing over these mini mansions.
Danny’s house can be found in a development called High Point Equestrian Estates. The home sites range from .5 to 4.25 acre lots and the dwellings are most impressive. According to the website Property Insight, Danny’s home boasts a whopping 8473 square feet and includes 7 bedrooms and 9 (yes 9!!!) baths. The home is six years old. Interiors of the real estate were used in filming, which we saw throughout the movie.
In addition to Love on the Sidelines and Surprised by Love, I’ve scene these grand estates pop up in a couple of other Hallmark movies; Along Came a Nanny and Garage Sale Mystery: Murder Medieval. They were easy to identify since the neighborhood has a very distinct look to it. The day we visited, I shot photos of the first two homes but discovered the latter two films after my visit. So once again, my sincere thanks to the inventor of Google. I was able to capture photos from Google Street View to include for this piece.
In Along Came a Nanny, High Point plays Poplar Point, the gated community that has been hit by a series of burglaries. In reality, filming was minimal at High Point as crews only shot the movies opening robbery, the driveway of a home, and several street views we saw throughout the flick. What is interesting to me as a location geek is that although Nanny is set in the High Point development, the majority of filming of this movie takes place in a neighborhood in Maple Ridge, almost 20 miles away!!! My guess (again, just me speculating) is it was much less expensive and probably a more film-friendly neighborhood in Maple Ridge. If you watch the movie, look closely at the houses and street and you will see they are totally different. As I mentioned in last weeks post, I look forward to heading back to Maple Ridge and scouting locations. I’ve amassed quite a list, which includes the Nanny neighborhood.
In Garage Sale Mystery: Murder Medieval, Jennifer visits an estate sale at a gorgeous home in High Point. Interiors were used in the shoot and the place is lovely.

Well, when you mentioned Murder Most Medieval, my interest was piqued. After all, my friend (Sebastian Spence) is in that one. But I don’t think he was in the scene you mentioned. I would love to know where they shot the estate his character lived in. But that’s because of the personal interest I have in that one.
I love Love on the Sidelines. Excellent work as always Kerry!
Kerry
Thanks so much Ruth…..I really appreciate your kind words. You are right, Sebastian wasn’t in the scene at High Point BUT, here is the house you are interested in. http://www.priceypads.com/medieval-home-from-hallmarks-garage-sale-mystery-murder-most-medieval-lists-in-langley-bc-for-8-988-million-photos-video/ I came across it a few months ago while researching. Tell you what, you go ahead and purchase the place and I will come visit you!!! Deal? Maybe Sebastian will come out and do some jousting for us! 🙂

Hello Kerry! You are amazing at locating these sets… I LOVE this new neighborhood you found! “Surprised by Love” and “Love on the Sidelines” are both amazing Hallmark movies – wonderful standouts! I bet it was so fun to see these homes in person… can’t you just imagine Gridley pulling up in his pickup truck, that is fueled by kitchen oil, or Laurel trying to get the heavy dog food out of the trunk of her car… and carry it into the house!
The “Garage Sale Mystery” and “Along Came a Nanny” movies are wonderful, too! Did you happen to see Cameron Mathison walking by, as you drove through the neighborhood? That would be awesome, huh?
Sorry to hear you had trouble with your site, but I’m so glad you were able to get it fixed.
Have a wonderful time with your Hope Valley tours! That sounds truly amazing!
Blessings, Net

Thanks Net…..this neighborhood is SO impressive, a real stand out! Lol……I did think about Laurel trying to carry that dog food when I was checking the house out….lol! It was funny, the day I visited this development, there was NO ONE out in front of their home, or walking through the neighborhood, no one at all. It was very quiet. I can only wish that Cameron was out walking the dog.
The site is running well right now but it looks like I may need to move to another host server. All the trouble I’m having leads back to them.
I had a couple tours over the weekend in Hope Valley and had a blast!!! Im really enjoying it a lot!!! 🙂
Vanessa
Thanks for this. I’m obsessed with researching every beautiful home on these Hallmark movies too! I live in Vancouver so I always love if I can spot it in them. Love on the sidelines is one of my faves as well! I will rewatch it forever.
Kerry
