Here we are, almost half way through December, already! I’ve got another Christmas post on the blog today, this time featuring some film locations we saw in the 2014 Hallmark movie, Cookie Cutter Christmas. This one is a fun holiday watch with a fantastic cast, directed by the talented Christie Will Wolf. Be sure to have some Christmas cookies on hand when watching, to enhance your viewing experience. Or, just because. From Hallmark:
“Christie Reynolds and Penny Miller have been archrivals ever since a memorable fight over a coveted Christmas recital solo in elementary school. Now adults, they work side-by-side at the same school where they still constantly compete over everything. As the holiday season approaches, the entire school is getting into the spirit with the annual fundraising festival, which will feature an exciting new event—a teacher Christmas Cookie Bake-Off, judged by a tough five-star chef, Chef Krueger. Penny and Christie immediately clash over the contest, both wanting to beat the other to win the grand prize, a free class trip. Christie, however, is hopeless in the kitchen, despite help from her mom, Bev. She doesn’t think she has a chance—until she meets James, a new student’s handsome and sweet single dad. In addition to running a charitable shelter, James is also an excellent cook. As both Christie and Penny vie for James’s attention in yet another aggressive battle, Christie starts to tutor his precious, kindhearted daughter Lily and gets to know James outside of school. As their relationship starts to deepen, and James’ baking expertise guides Christie’s cookie creations, Christie’s competitive edge starts to soften. But at the final bake-off challenge, James is finally caught in the middle of Christie and Penny’s petty feud, and Christie comes to realize life’s most rewarding prizes don’t come with a trophy”.
Filming of this movie took place in popular Langley, BC, and the town scenes were shot on the streets of Fort Langley. As I have said before, Langley is very film-friendly, which is why we’ve scene it so many times on our screens. That, along with the generous tax incentives. And the further out you go from Vancouver, the greater those incentives get! And honestly, it really is quite picturesque. Within its borders you can find small town charm, lakeside retreats, forested parks, countryside estates, or a downtown city center. Langley is also pretty large, which is why I always try and mention what area of Langley I am talking about. (I don’t feed you the standard ‘filmed in Vancouver’ line) My favorite areas include Murrayville and the fort, places I ❤ to hang out at when I visit. Film crews are the norm in Langley and I never tire of seeing it on television.
In Cookie Cutter Christmas, I found Penny’s house in the Brookswood area of Langley. The home is quite impressive to look at from the road and is totally recognizable from the movie.
In real life, the place has 4 bedrooms and 4 baths, in 4700 square feet. Although I could not locate any interior photos online, I believe the inside of the dwelling was used in the movie. And what a fantastic house to decorate for Christmas! All those windows, the columns on the front porch and that walkway. (Go, Penny!)
Up next is the home James and Lily lived in. I located this property in the Murrayville area, on a large corner lot, set slightly back from the road.
According to an article I read, the place has 6 bedrooms and 4 baths, in 3800 square feet, all on nearly half an acre. I learned it was built by a contractor as his personal family residence. I was able to check out some interior photos of the place and can confirm that the inside of this home was used for filming.
The shelter that James runs in the movie is actually an art gallery located at 9048 Glover Road in Fort Langley.
It looks the same in real-life as it does in the movie, and I’d have located it even without the ‘9048’ in the stained glass, as I have driven by it so many times over the last couple decades. The day I was there to snap photographs, the gallery was closed so I was unable to speak with anyone regarding filming. But I was able to take a picture of the interior, through a window, and it looks the same as it did in the movie.
We saw a familiar sidewalk in the film and anyone who considers themself a seasoned Hallmark viewer has scene it too! Off the top of my head, it has been used in Cedar Cove, Convenient Groom, Harvest Wedding, Wedding Bells…and so many, many more. Just look for the large red sleigh parked outside the storefront. In the movie, we see Christie and her friend out shopping and they walk past Village Antiques Mall, located at 23331 Mavis Avenue in Fort Langley.
We also see them pass Pomp, Go Be Pretty, which I mentioned in this post.
Another familiar location in the fort is this walkway, which was a regular fixture in the Cedar Cove series. (Saget Development was supposed to be in the area) In Cookie Cutter Christmas, we see James, Lily, and Christie in conversation under the awning below. In real life, this walkway is located along the Fraser River, behind the Fort Pub & Grill.
I have been looking for years for the house that Christie and her mom live in, but no such luck…. yet! (Yeah, if nothing else I am determined) For now, I hope you enjoyed seeing some locations from this funny holiday film.

Great post!! Makes me want to visit there…looks so quaint in real life. My favorite movies each Christmas are Matchmaker Santa, Let It Snow (that lodge has been in several movies) and the Most Wonderful Time of the Year. Thanks for sharing your research…very fun!!
Kerry
Amy, THAT LODGE!!!!! It has showed up in a few movies and I’d love to get a look at it one day. Love Matchmaker Santa…wish I could have baked cookies with the infamous Mrs. Brady! My must-see’s always lean to the older movies. Not saying I don’t enjoy the new ones…hello, Christmas Walz! 🙂
Juanita Stinson
I agree enjoying some of the older ones, “Matchmaker Santa” all-time favorite, and “Let it Snow.” Take you back, “A Boyfriend for Christmas,” especially the family football game with Ted and Douglas Firwood. Too funny😂!!
Kerry
Juanita, Let is Snow is one of my all-time faves. I seriously need to find that lodge!!!!! Oldies = goodies! 🙂
Heather

I also love Crown for Christmas….and A Christmas Card, Most Wonderful Time of the Year, Matchmaker Santa, A Dog Named Christmas, A Princess for Christmas, A Family for Christmas, Christmas in Grand Valley, A Veteran for Christmas, Christmas with Holly, A Christmas Melody, Christmas At The Plaza, and A Christmas Cure. This year I’ve love A Christmas Waltz, A Timeless Christmas, Chateau Christmas, Christmas in Vienna, and I always enjoy the Evergreen Series movies, I love the entire cast in those movies. Are there certain actors that you look for in movies. I certainly do, and really enjoy when the “teams” reunite in other movies. Thanks, Kerry, for bringing us joy once again. Merry Christmas.

GREAT list!!! I haven’t watched Christmas Melody in awhile…SUCH a fab movie! Maybe I will give it a watch later in the week. I forgot how good it is until you mentioned it. Love the Evergreen series too….I still need to write about Burnaby Village, the little shops/town you see in the movies. Very cool place I would love to share.
There are certain people I get excited to see on Hallmark. Of course there are the leads but I’m talking about the supporting cast. I love seeing the same people in different movies. I haven’t watched anywhere near all the Christmas movies this year but in the ones I have watched, I’ve noticed some new faces that keep showing up. I think that is great.
Total side note but earlier this year when I was working on the estate I mentioned back in February, I had to ferry over to Friday Harbor, where the movie Christmas with Holly takes place!!! Note: It was NOT filmed there but still, made me think of my readers and thought they might enjoy a post with pics about the real Friday Harbor. And bonus: there was a major motion picture filmed on the island, which you KNOW I scoped out during my time there.
