Hello Hallmark fans…I have had another awesome week!!! I finally saw the house I spent over six months looking for, the blue farmhouse from Harvest Moon and Love Struck Cafe. SO, so cool to see it in person, and I will be featuring this one in a future post. I met some more great folks at the MacInnes Farm, leading WCTH tours. The first was a sweet family, including grandparents and grandchildren, who all watch the show and have that common ground. I love that! The second tour included a fan from Norway, a mom & son scouting a local college, and a couple of gals, that we discovered, share a mutual friendship with a family from my small town!!! I always say, it is such a small world, until you lose your luggage. 😉
I got some research done, an interview at the cupcake shop from The Sweetest Heart and even ran across a little “Christmas in March”, which I will save for later. It was a very memorable week!!! I will not be at the farm this weekend as we are meeting friends for dinner in Seattle, but I will be back up the following weekend. Stories I am currently working on include a ‘Look back at Cedar Cove‘, as well as an SSD post, featuring a location from the recent ‘Road Less Traveled‘ movie. If you have not already, please consider subscribing to my website. You will receive an email each week, once the new post is published. Ok, lets go Hallmarking!
Today’s location takes us back to the city of Langley, BC, what I have often referred to as the “Capital of Hallmark film locations”! Langley is only about 30 miles from the big city but with traffic, it can take an hour or more at times. Between the tax incentives offered to shoot outside of the city and the ideal landscape of this area, my guess is we will continue to see Langley take center stage in the movies we love. Communities such as Maple Ridge, Abbotsford, and Langley have so much to offer movie crews. There are many film studios in those areas to provide support, along with the manpower needed to pull it all off. I am still so fascinated by it all and am thrilled by the number of productions working around these parts. It provides many a location for me to uncover!
Eat, Play, Love premiered during last Augusts ‘Summer Nights’ movies. Starring Jen Lilley and Jason Cermak, it also reunited Lee Majors and Lindsay Wagner on our TV screens. As a child, I loved them as the 6 Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman and I am sure it had to be such a meaningful experience for both to reunite in this sweet movie.
From Hallmark:
Veterinarian Dr. Carly Monroe makes it a habit to stop by the local dog shelter as often as possible because she loves dogs and secretly loves the shelter’s owner, Dan. Unfortunately, he has agreed to marry his glamorous TV personality girlfriend and move to the Big Apple. With Dan’s big move looming, his sister decides to take matters into her own hands.
Eat, Play, Love was shot in May of 2017 and used several locations in Langley and Maple Ridge. Carly’s house, with her office next door, can be found in Langley. I tracked this one down pretty quickly and recently had the opportunity to go see it in person.
I have to say, this house reminds me SO much of a beach cottage! (and I am a huge fan of the beach!!!) I love the cedar shake accents on the upstairs exterior, the crisp white painted trim, and the beachy blue paint. I have no trouble imagining myself sitting on the balcony upstairs watching the waves in the ocean…well, if this was beachfront, which it’s not. It has a carport in place of a garage and somehow, it all just fits. There are two bedrooms, three baths, and the place is four years old.
The cute cedar front building adjacent to the house was used as Carly’s office in the movie. According to an old real estate listing I saw, this detached multi-purpose building is finished and holds 632 square feet and includes a bathroom. Interiors of both the home and this building were used in filming, along with the park-like backyard
I also tracked down Lucie’s home, which is just minutes away from Carly’s. This home showed beautifully on screen, with its big windows, grey paint, and glass front door. But what really caught my eye is the large, open, wrap-around porch, which doesn’t have any railing! I love this home and was excited to see it in person. Check out the front porch closely and you will notice that several of the items appeared in the movie. And you know I always love to see that!
While checking out Lucie’s home on Google Street view, the house next door caught my eye. I do love me some cedar shakes on a house, so when I zoomed in for a better look, I immediately recognized the place!!! I checked my trusty notebook, just to be sure, and bingo, I was right. The house next to Lucie’s house was used in Aurora Teagarden: The Julius House, and I had located this one shortly after the movie aired last year. This is the home where Harley and Charity lived, which is also where the climatic ending scenes were shot. This is a good lesson for me to pay attention to other homes in the neighborhood when I’m on Google Street View. You just never know if you’ve scene it before!
Not far from all these ‘Hallmark Houses’ is the Langley Animal Protection Society, which stood in as the dog shelter in Eat, Play, Love. I discovered this location via What’s Filming. I figured I’d include it with this post because it just seemed fitting. Sadly, I forgot to snap a photo while I was in Canada earlier this week so I had to utilize Google, yet again. Sorry!

This weekend, Hallmark continues their Spring Fever line-up with Home by Spring. And on Sunday, don’t miss an all new episode of WCTH. Check local listings for times. Thank you for stopping by each week. I really appreciate your support!!! It is a great feeling to share these familiar places with other fans who may not be able to visit. Happy Hallmarking!

First of all, I just adored the Hallmark movie “Eat, Play, Love” and I equally adore Carly’s charming and quaint sweet home! It fits her perfectly! I’m so glad you located it, Kerry, plus her friend Lucie’s house, the shelter, and the house where Aurora & Martin found Charity Julius! That is incredible! You are so good at sleuthing out these locations, Kerry. What fun! It’s like you are solving your own little Hallmark mystery!!!
Have a wonderful weekend… Happy Easter!!!
Blessings, Net

Love Hallmark and love settings of the movies. I adore getting your info. I am interested in knowing why Hallmark uses sets and actors mostly from Canada?
Kerry
Thank you for your comment Elainna. So glad you are enjoying my website!! I talk a bit about this in my very first post here: https://www.ivesceneitonhallmark.com/a-blog-is-born/ Tax incentives, the favorable exchange rate, and the fact that Vancouver has everything you need to make movies (stuidos, crew AND actors) ……that is the short answer. 🙂
Anne
Love reading all these location finds! Any idea where the park with the swings and walking trail that was used in Eat, Play, Love is?
Kerry
Thanks for your comment Anne. I haven’t scene this one for awhile so off the top of my head, I am not sure. I will update once I’ve re-watched if I recognize anything. Could have been filmed in the backyard at the house though. 🙂
