Today’s post is dedicated to the men, women, and families who serve our country.
Christmas Homecoming premiered in 2017 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. It is an emotional story of love & loss, strength & courage, and hope & healing, mixed together with the heart of the military and the joy of the Christmas season. From Hallmark:
“A military widow rents an apartment to an Army Captain recovering from an injury in battle. As they team up to save the town’s military museum with a Christmas fundraising event, these two “wounded birds” find themselves falling in love — and being healed by the magic of Christmas”.
I always love these military movies and find them all so very moving. Christmas Homecoming has a wonderful cast and I thought the story was well done. While my dad served his country, that was long before I was even thought of, so the military world was not really a part of my life growing up. But now, I live in an area that has an active military base. For the last couple decades, I have had at least one neighbor on active duty and have watched soldiers deploy for long periods of time. This has opened my eyes to a world I knew nothing of, and my respect has grown tremendously through the years, not only for those who serve but for their families who serve as well. If you are reading this and I have just described you, I want to personally thank you for your service to our country.
Christmas Homecoming was shot during the summer heat in 2017, and I am most certain the snow ball scene was likely a very welcome relief. I saw locations in Langley and Vancouver in this movie and today we are going to focus on Langley. First up is Amanda’s house.
As you can see from my photos, the house itself looks just as it did in the movie. The door, which is red in real life, was painted white for filming. Or perhaps it was changed after filming took place but I noticed that the glass on the door is the same, which tells me it is the same door.
I located Amanda’s simple home on a very quiet cul-de-sac in Langley. I must have driven past the turnoff a few dozen times over the last year while heading to the Jamestown Movie Set and to Fort Langley. In the film, the house has a backyard apartment that gets rented out and this property was selected for that reason. After studying the overhead view of this lot, I was shocked at how very large it actually is and discovered a swimming pool that we didn’t see on screen. (I wonder if the cast & crew cooled off in the pool in between takes?)
The next location I am sharing is the museum that Amanda worked at. In real life, this is the Langley Centennial Museum located in Fort Langley, B.C. It is funny that out of all my trips to the fort over the last 24 years, it was this Hallmark movie that brought the museum to my attention. It just wasn’t even on my radar until it appeared on my TV screen. The Centennial Museum was used for the shots involving displays and it looks exactly as it did in the movie.
The Langley Centennial Museum features 3500 square feet of exhibits and displays including art, history, and science. Owned and operated by the Township of Langley, the museum houses a gift shop with unique items, handcrafted by local artisans. While I was there, I inquired about filming and was told that Christmas in Canaan filmed a scene inside the museum. I did not include a screen shot in this post because I could not find access to the movie anywhere, without having to purchase it. And while I have not scene Christmas in Canaan before, I was told by Melanie at Jamestown Movie Set that some of the movie was shot at MacInnes Farm.
Next door is the BC Farm Museum, which is where the auction was held in the movie.
Although I did not go inside the Farm Museum (there is a fee), I was able to capture some shots from the doorway. It is very recognizable from the movie, right down to the airplane hanging from the ceiling. (SO cool to see that!) I was in between interviews the day I was in town and perhaps if I had more time, I would have wandered through. It looks like a very interesting place.
Christmas Movies Continue
I had a very nice Thanksgiving holiday and enjoyed the long weekend doing some of my favorite things; eating, shopping, decorating, and Hallmark. Our halls are decked and I’ve been enjoying the twinkling lights, our little tree, and the scent of my Sugared Plum Yankee Candle filling the air. I confess, I am behind on my Hallmark movie watching but hope to get caught up this week. I tell ya, last week was SO full of new movies I just couldn’t watch them all. And guess what? This weekend there are more….LOL. I have been recording some of the Lifetime movies as well and I can honestly say I have plenty of movies to choose from at the moment. And speaking of Lifetime, this weekend, A Twist of Christmas will premiere on the network on Saturday night. Besides being directed by one of my faves, David Winning, be sure to keep a close eye on the locations, specifically the blue house. Hallmark fans will recognize the Maple Ridge home from While You Were Dating, Art of Us, and Christmas in Evergreen, which I wrote about here. (I stumbled upon A Twist of Christmas filming last summer) Be sure to check your local listings for times on ALL the networks!
Another 50K

In LESS than 3 months time, I have already had an additional 50,000 MORE page views! I am humbled and honored that you have chosen to spend time on my website. Thank you so much for your encouragement, kind emails, and all the Hallmark love. ❤️ I love connecting with so many people who are also into film locations. So again, THANK YOU!!!!
I will be back next week with an all new Hallmark Christmas film location.

I love receiving all of your information on locations and pictures since I am addicted to Hallmark movies as many people are.
I was in Langley in September vacationing in the area and on our way out of town filming was taking place down a main street from The Ramada Inn so we stopped to take pictures from across the street and chatted briefly with a crew member.
We were told it was indeed a Christmas Hallmark movie called “Holidate” with actress Jen Lilley and I found a little information on google with a picture of Jen Lilley about the making of the movie yet no information as to when it might be released .
Would you perhsps have an update on this information so we can look forward to watching it?
We also visited the “Hilltop Cafe” where movies are filmed ftom time to time!
We loved the area and will return on another Hallmark adventure!
You have a dream job as far as I’m concerned and thank you for sharing..!!!
I also have some nice pictures👍

Hi Diana! Thanks so much for your comment. So happy you found my site! Yes, Jen will be in the movie Mingle All the Way. (Its working title was Holidate) The movie premieres THIS Saturday, Dec. 1. That is WAY cool that you caught some filming and got some photos. I love it!!! And you made it to the Hilltop…..great place! I did a post on it if you want to search the site for it. Hope you get a chance to come back to see more locations soon. This is my hobby and I am so glad that you enjoy reading about my adventures. Thanks again for your comment!!! 🙂

First, I love your tribute to our Military. My Father, Grandfather, and Uncles served our country, so I am always thankful to our military for their bravery and sacrifices, and their families, as well.
This was such a “homey” location to film “Christmas Homecoming.” I think one of my favorite parts is that picture you featured above with the white fence and Christmas garland. It’s such a quaint, sweet home!
I’m always fascinated to see how they use one business location for another in a film, by simply placing a new sign or banner over the other. They must have some collection by now of pretend locations! Wonder if they ever reuse a café or restaurant sign, etc…
It’s so good to hear you had such a nice Thanksgiving! Mine was wonderful with my family, as well… and I’m just like you… busy recording as much Christmas movies as possible, and trying to watch a few… sprinkled here & there!
Blessings & Merry Christmas!!! Net

Thank you Net, and my thanks to your family for their service.
I loved this movie…..its easily in my top 10 fave Hallmark Christmas movies. I loved A Veteran’s Christmas (new this year) that premiered a few weeks ago. Just loved it!!!
I bet there is a whole bunch of signs sitting in a warehouse somewhere….LOL! I do know that production companies hold sales, sometimes after a movie or series ends or just at random times during the year. They will sell props from movies. I’ve yet to make it to one but I would really love to…I’ve spoken to a few people who have been and I hear its very fun. Reminds me of the vintage markets I love so much, but with movie props!!!
I am so happy you had a nice Thanksgiving holiday too. Be sure to take some time to enjoy this magical season. Merry Christmas my friend!!! 🙂
