In honor of Mother’s Day:
On December 26, 2015, my mother passed away unexpectedly. For anyone who has experienced loss, you know how much your life can change. I know mine sure did. Total and complete 180. I learned a lot about myself the year following my mothers death; I found a voice I never knew I had, I discovered a strength I didn’t know I possessed, and I learned that I can do anything I set my mind to, even if the world tells me I cannot. And out of the ashes can come beauty.
A year ago, I made the decision to start this blog, even though there were a million reasons why I shouldn’t. The first that comes to mind is my lack of tech skills, followed by the fact that I am not a writer. But you know what??? WHO CARES! I had strong desire to share my passion for film locations with other fans and that’s exactly what I am doing. And if you are a regular reader of this blog, you know that I have met some amazing people through my stories and interviews and I’ve even become a seasonal tour guide at a film set…talk about livin’ the dream! This is some of the good that has come from something so bad, the beauty from ashes. Death changes things and my mothers death changed my life as I knew it.
In honor of Mother’s Day, I would like to publicly dedicate this website to my mother, Kathleen. Born and raised in Vancouver, BC, she is laid to rest there, along with my dad, at the family plot. I feel her with me when I am researching locations and discovering new places on her turf, always wondering if she has ever been there. As a Hallmark viewer herself, I know she would have loved reading my blog, featuring locations from the “home of her heart”. She was a fan of Cedar Cove and loved seeing the familiar scenery every week. I love you Mom….and thank you!
The Houses of Cedar Cove
As promised, here is a gathering of the houses of Cedar Cove. I hope you enjoy the tour!!! If you missed last weeks Cedar Cove Introduction, you can read it here. And check out my giveaway at the end of this post!!!
Olivia’s House: Pilot Episode
This waterfront home, as scene in the pilot episode, is located in the city of Victoria, on beautiful Vancouver Island. As I mentioned last week, the Cedar Cove pilot was shot on Vancouver Island and production was moved to the mainland for season 1. Since I have not been over to the island yet, the photo below is from Google.
Olivia’s House: Season 3
While doing some research for my “Look Back” series, I was given the opportunity to visit this incredible piece of waterfront real estate. I cannot tell you how exciting it was for me to be in Olivia’s backyard, taking in the view we saw countless times throughout season 3. It was very surreal. My deep appreciation and special thanks to Doug and Lynda.
Jack’s House: Season 1
Located in Fort Langley, I wrote about Jack’s season 1 house here.
Jack’s House: Seasons 2 & 3
Starting in season 2, this Fort Langley home shows up as Jack’s place. This house also appeared very briefly in Hallmarks A Ring By Spring, as the home of Rachel Boston’s parents.
Grace’s House: Seasons 2 & 3
I LOVE Grace’s adorable yellow house, featured in seasons 2 and 3!!! The cedar shake trim, inviting front porch, and gorgeous black front door really speak to me. Although I do not watch Riverdale, I am told this is Betty’s house in that series. This Fort Langley home is picture perfect!!! I was tipped off to its whereabouts by a friend. Note: I am still looking for Grace’s red house from season 1. Do you know where it is? Email me!
The Thyme & Tide Bed & Breakfast: Seasons 2 & 3
We’ve scene it in Moonlight in Vermont, Bramble House, Garage Sale Mystery and June in January but before all of them, it was Cedar Cove’s B & B, The Thyme & Tide. Read my in depth post on the inn from Moonlight in Vermont, here.
The Nursing Home: Season 1
In season 1 of Cedar Cove, Charlotte spent a lot of time visiting folks at this nursing home. In real life, it is a nursing home located in Fort Langley. While I have not been in the building, I am told there is an autographed 8×10 glossy of Andie MacDowell hanging inside. SO cool!!!
John’s House: Season 1 and Eric’s House: Season 2
In season 1, John rents this sweet craftsman bungalow. It becomes Eric’s house in season 2, when Warren gives him the place as part of his employment with Saget Development. Interiors were also used. Located in Fort Langley, I’m told this unit is a vacation rental in real life.
Ian & Cecilia’s House: Season 2
Located in Fort Langley just down the street from Jack’s season 2 & 3 house, this is where Ian & Cecilia lived.
The Girls’ Rental House: Season 3
In season 3, we saw Justine, Rebecca, and Linnette move into this rental. Look familiar? It should. I wrote about Wendy’s house here, from For Better of For Worse. This lovely home is located in Fort Langley.
Charlotte’s House Season 3
This incredible property showed up in season 3 as Charlotte’s house. I’ve had my eye on this place for years and we’ve scene it before, most notably in Wedding Bells. I have driven past it but sadly, nothing can be seen from the road. I would LOVE to do a story on this one because I find it totally and completely enchanting. And I would love to see that fountain out front!!! Located in Langley, I hear it has been used a lot for filming.

As always Kerry such an incredible post. My daughter & I LOVE Riverdale so it’s cool to see that crossover too. Thank you for your incredible work! And the sweet dedication to your mom
Kerry
Thanks Ruth!!! Very cool that you watch Riverdale. The scene where a car goes into water and some keys or a phone are tossed in (sorry, I don’t watch it but have heard this ) was filmed at Jamestown movie set! I always point it out on my tours.
My deep thanks for acknowledging my dedication to my mom. ❤️
Becky
Beautiful Kerry! I had no idea your mom was originallyfrom BC. She would be proud of you Kerry! Keep up the good work!! 😘
Kerry
Thank you Becky…that means so much! I feel her with me every time I’m in Canada. 😀
Steph
I watch Riverdale but never made the connection. I will have to start paying more attention to Betty’s house. I had a bracelet worn by Josie on Riverdale…if Betty had worn it then I would have to say that house is a good luck charm!
Kerry
Steph, I haven’t seen Riverdale but I may have to watch some episodes so I can see Betty’s house. I’m curious to how it looks on the show. Riverdale uses fort Langley a lot in the show. I am constantly seeing film notices for it. I have thought about starting to watch, if for nothing else, just to see all the filming locations. 🙂
Cheryl
Kerry, what a sweet tribute to your mom. I am so proud that you decided to follow your passions and start the blog. Sometimes it is not even about anybody reading, it is about you sharing your heart and passion and that always inspires others to pursue theirs. God gives us all different giftings, and I do think you ARE a writer. 😊
Kerry
Thank you so much Cheryl! That really means a lot. And I am glad our paths crossed in time for your trip. 🙂
Net
Kerry, this is such a lovely post and tribute to your dear Mother. You are such a sweet, kind, and caring person – so I know she was, too! You stepped out on faith and created this wonderful web-site, an amazing place for on-line friends to share a love of Hallmark movies and the incredible places they were filmed. This is THE LOCATION! I’m sure your Mother would have been so proud.
Oh, and by the way… I love your writing!… it’s like friends having a conversation! You always make me feel like you are sharing your heart… and all the triumphs and struggles (sometimes) to find certain locations. I hope this site takes you to many more wonderful places… places you never dreamed!!!
Blessings to you, my friend! Net
Kerry
Thank you so much Net. I appreciate your kind words and it really means a lot to me. I remember emailing with you way back at the start of all this, never knowing how it would go. You encouraged me then as you continue to do now. Thank you!!!! I know my mom would have loved me doing something with all my filming facts and tidbits and it’s true what I wrote; I do feel her with me when I’m exploring these new places in Canada. I thank you so much for, what you said about my writing. And I am so glad how it comes across. My “style” if you will, is exactly what you said, like two friends having a conversation. I do share what’s on my heart and how I’m feeling, good and bad. I am so happy that it All comes through. Thank you again my friend!!!! 🙂

Such a great post, Kerry! As I newer blogger myself, I can totally relate to the “what ifs” surrounding the idea of starting a blog. I also think it was really touching that you dedicated your blog to your mom. I believe that Charlotte’s house from Season 3 was also “scene” in the Lifetime movie, Boy in the Attic, starring When Calls the Heart alum, Max Lloyd-Jones. As a fan of Moon from Cedar Cove, I was always disappointed that Moon’s house was never featured on the show. I can just imagine how cool it might’ve looked on-screen.
Kerry
Sally, what an intriguing thought regarding Moon’s house……you’re right, that would have been so cool to see!!! And thanks for the tip on Charlotte’s house and it possibly being used in Lifetime’s Boy in the Attic…..I am going to check that out. A couple days ago, a fellow Hallmark fan and I discovered it was also used in Hallmark’s The Edge of the Garden. I had “scene” the movie years ago but could not recall the name and my new Hallmark friend, Kathy, mentioned the name the other night. It had been driving me crazy for awhile. I will reply to you here once I check out the Lifetime movie.
Thanks for your kind words about my mom. I really appreciate it. When did you start your blog? I launched Sept. 1, 2017. I checked it out and bookmarked it for future reading. Is there a way to subscribe? Thanks so much for stopping by. 🙂
Sally Silverscreen
I started 18 Cinema Lane February of this year, so my blog isn’t even a year old yet.
Kerry
Me either. I launched my blog in September of 2017. Well congrats….and welcome to the blogging world! 🙂
Mari
Just happen to stumble across your houses of Cedar Cove …Thank you !
Do you happen to know of a Hallmark show that has been advertised 2019 something to do with the beach and Olivia from Cedar Cove? I have been searching for it with no luck.
Thanks,
Mari
Kerry
Welcome Mari! Yes, there is a fabulous Hallmark Hall of Fame movie called ‘The Beach House’, which stars “Olivia”, AKA Andie MacDowell. It is very beautiful and moving. Check it out! 🙂
Theresa
Hi Kari!
Today was the very first time I watched Cedar Cove, now in reruns, and I fell in love with the scenery. It’s kismit for sure since I have been wanting to visit British Columbia for a couple of years now. I can’t describe it, but it’s like it’s pulling me to come and explore.
Thank you for your lovely blog, it’s wonderful! You and I share a hardship – the loss of our mother’s. Mine passed away in June of 2019. She was my best friend and I dearly miss her. I, too, am now on a path of discovery.
Hope you’re doing well. God bless ❤️!
Sincerely,
Theresa
Kerry
Theresa, thank you for your sweet comment. I know you are on a difficult journey. Please be kind to yourself. ❤️
I would encourage you to plan a trip to BC once travel is back open into Canada. I really think you would love it!!!
Take care and God bless!
